Stop the Traffik Human Rights
At least 12.3 million people are victims of forced labour worldwide and people trafficking is the fastest growing global crime. Stop the Traffik is a global movement, working to combat people trafficking – it has more than 1,000 member organisations in 50 countries and a grass roots following of ordinary activists around the world.
General Information:Stop the Traffik organisations and activists work together in the following areas –
Education: Spreading the message, creating awareness and understanding of people trafficking.
Advocacy: When people act things change. Engaging with those who have the power to minimise the trafficking of people.
Fundraising: Financing anti–trafficking work around the world, including working with those vulnerable to and those who have been trafficked.
In February 2008, Stop the Traffik delivered more than 1.5 million signatures to the United Nations, calling for more to be done to fight people trafficking around the world. The declaration called for more to be done to prevent the sale of people, protect the victims and prosecute the traffickers.
The global crime of people trafficking is increasing daily. It affects all nations and all people. This is the world’s problem and will demand a global solution. Stop the Traffik wants to be at the heart of this solution and have launched the Stop the Traffik Global Fund to finance projects which link together across a region to fight people trafficking in a comprehensive manner.
