Black Cohosh is a female hormonal tonic. It reduces luteinising hormone, which is produces by the pituitary gland. Levels of LH rise during the menopause; this is thought to be one of the main causes of hot flushes and vaginal dryness. The phytoestrogenic (plant compounds which act in a similar way to oestrogen) action helps to ease menopausal symptoms without the possible side effects of HRT. Black Cohosh can also be beneficial in helping with perimenopausal PMS. The general calming and anti–anxiety effects also associated with this herb enhance its advantages in reducing nervous tension, which builds up during strong hormonal activity. 30 capsules.
